Back in 2016 the North Canberra Bears Senior Rugby League team made a comeback to the Canberra Region Rugby League George Tooke Shied after decades of hibernation. Not only did they make a comeback, the senior men’s won the premiership in the George Tooke Shield. From that point we all knew good things were ahead for the club. With many community focused members in our club, we thought: what if we had a bar, not only for the members of the club, but for the whole community in the Bears heartland of Kaleen.
Well, that idea grew into reality and the North Canberra Bears Bar was born or as you will come to know it: ‘Northies’. With the venue being tired and run-down we gave it a facelift to make it warm and welcoming to all walks of life with something for all. So, what may be on offer I hear you ask? We will be focusing on community and family friendly activities and services. With our restaurant open from 12pm to 8.30pm 7 days a week, you are sure not to go hungry. We will have weekly Trivia, members night with awesome raffles, family day on Sunday’s, live music on Friday night and not to forget all three footy codes live on the many TV screens throughout the venue and more.
